Guest Designing today. :D

Hey heyyy..

How are you all??
I'm back again with another card to share with you all. Too soon, right? Thanks to Artful Crafting's wonderful wonderful guest designing offer. :D
I won the Challenge 8, and got the chance to post as a GDT. *happy dance* :D

This is what I came up with.

This card is so close to my heart. Mainly because I have used all my favorite techniques/products on this card. I have been planning to try one bold on black card for long. So glad i got the chance.
I heat embossed the background stamp on the black cardstock, then applied gesso randomly in the centre portion. And then the fun part: I used Mica powder mixed in gesso to add colors. Obviously the colors were light and I had to add red acrylic color later. But the golden and yellow showing through are sooooo pretty to resist. hehe.

Then I added some white thread behind my resin frame(new found love *wink*). For the main flower, this particular thing is a BEAUTY. Its by the Altenew, (Thanks to a friend for ordering this for me). I colored it using distress inks, fussy cut the flower and leaves and stacked them one over another.

Main idea behind this card is to spread LOVE. I made this for someone very very dear to me, and I have been looking for a chance to thank her. For listening to me, and for making me feel better when the time was tough.
Thats it, folks.
Dont forget to check out the new challenge going on. its about Love.
Hope this post will inspire you. Dont forget to create, and spread happiness. Oh and mainly, DONT FORGET TO TAKE PART IN THE CHALLENGE. ;)
Much love.

Love kinda thing..

Assalam o Alaikum, readers!

Hope you all are having a great week, so far. First and foremost, thanks to everyone who voted for my last card. I won that challenge *grin* .. Had a great time shopping with my winning voucher.
When you win something, you automatically get motivated. That's what happened with me too. Hence, I'm sharing another entry for the next challenge.
This time round, i have combined two challenges. First is Artful Crafting Challenge 10, and second is the Unity's weekly challenge. You can find the details over on the facebook group of Unity (Show & Tell).

This is my card for the Artful Crafting challenge 10, which is all about Love. February, really is a month of love for me. My hubby's birthday is in February, and this card is basically for him. Just hoping that he finds it good enough to keep in his drawer :p Thats where all my prev cards are kept.

About the card, I started off by smooshing distress inks on a watercolor paper by Rangers. I have used Picked raspberry, spiced marmlade, spun sugar and mustard seed. After the inks were dried, I added embossing paste through the tim holtz dot fade layering stencil. I then added some more splatters of distress sprays, to give my background more detail. The fussy cut butterflies and the couple under umbrella are the heat embossed stamps by Unity Stamps. I have lightly stamped my background using the same butterfly stamp by Unity.

I have coated the resin frame with gel medium and then generously sprinkled glass glitter on that. Trust me, it was a hard decision to do that. I am so in love with the simplicity of these resin frames by Prima, that it was really a TASK for me to cover this beauty. But Alhamdulillah it turned out into another sparkling beauty. I have added guaze/cheesecloth in the back of the frame and butterflies to give it a lil texture.
I have colored the couple, using distress inks. And for girl's dress, which is supposed to be golden; I used prima bloom spray in golden color. I added wink of stella on the umbrella to give my image more of a dreamy look. I'm in LOVE with the look, like seriously!!!!!!

I heat embossed the sentiment, and layer it on top of the glittered frame. The flowers are by Prima, as well. I have added a golden washi tape on the card base to finish off the look, and adhered my panel on the base.
I have got almost all the supplies from Artful Crafting shop.
Can you see the layering and depth? I'm excited to share this with my husband, cant wait to see his expressions. :)
This is it for now.
Dont forget to leave your comments and feedback. That helps me grow as a card-maker.

Love.
Khadija.

Watercolor showers

Hey hey..

How are you all? Missed me? :P Well I missed the blogger world, ALOT. Sometimes I lay on my bed and decide what I want to write on my blog in the morning. And then that morning never came :/ That's how life is, right? You plan, and then you see them changing on their own.
Anyhoo, thanks to Artful Crafting and their continuous challenges. They keep people like me grounded and normal :D
This time round, the challenge is Watercolor. Which is tough medium. I have seen thousands of videos before start working on my entry. But even thouh when I grabbed the paint brush, i was confused to death. I was scared.
Shuker though that I found a veryyy easy tutorial on YT. I forgot the name, but I'll link the vdo once I find the vdo again.
So this is what I have put together. The technique involves rubber stamps and wet on wet technique. Which was a tornado to pass. lol. But i managed somehow, and ended up with these two cards.
Below is the close up of sparkly flowers, thanks to my new wink of stella. I have used that EVERYWHERE now.

The second card is slightly simple. Well simple is hard to manage. i wanted to give a soft watercolor wash in the background with monochromatic tilda as a highlight. I have added wink of stella on the hearts here. This tilda is the most adorable stamp in my stash. May God give me enough cash to collect all the tildas :D But for now this tilda with hearts, ladies & gents.

Pleaseeee let me know if you like it, or not. I'll be more than happy to get encouragement and healthy criticism.
Jazakillah for visiting.

With love.. From me to you!!

Hello hello.

I'm back with my entry for another challenge over at Artful Crafting. This time, their theme is ANYTHING GOES but that anything should be WITHOUT flowers. Tricky, no?!
We, no matter what, always tend to add one small flower in almost every project. But hats off to the design team of artful crafting, they have created master pieces. You should have a look at the entries, here.
Inspired much, I have made a card using the only Tilda stamp I own :p

Background is inked and heat embossed. I used the partial embossing technique here, where you ink your stamp using Versamark and then wipe some parts of the inked area of your stamp using a baby wipe. And then stamp. That way, you only get some areas of your stamp.
Tilda is colored using Distress inks. I used walnut stain, vintage photo, barn door, black soot and spun sugar. I'm not so good with the shading though. But I have tried my best to keep it simple.
After coloring the Tilda, I fussy cut the image and mount that on my base. Oh and to raise it a little, I added thick chipboard pieces behind the image. I do not use foam tape now, it wont stick for long.
Sentiment is heat embossed on black cardstock using white embossing powder.
I finished this card by layering the base on red and then paste it on black folded card. Inside is slightly embellished, and have a birthday related sentiment.
Do leave a comment, and subscribe if you like.

Much love,
Khadija.

Challenge entry "Stenciling"

Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone!!

I'm back with a post, after almost a year. It has been a roller coaster type of year. I was not well, and then my daughter happened :D *yayy* She's mashallah 4 months old now. So i'm getting some time for myself as well. Well, Sorta! haha. Although she's very sweet. Won't cry much. And sometimes she lets me play some android games while she plays with her fists. :)
Anyhoo, today's post is all about Artful Crafting's 1st Challenge. Which is about Stenciling. Now who doesn't love stenciling, Right?! So do I. I went ahead and create a mixed media wall hanging for this challenge.
I have used around 80% things bought from Artful Crafting.
Below are the photos of some of the material I have used in my project.

I forgot to mention the Sizzix flower die and fanciful flourish die I have used in the project, also bought from Artful Crafting.
After spending almost 4 hours, I ended up with this 12"x12" canvas.
You can see the stencils used in the background. I went a lil crazy with them, hehe. After applying textured paste through these stencils, I colored my canvas with Deep Teal bloom sprayGold Foil spray and some distress inks(Black soot, vintage photo, salty ocean, walnut stain and Spiced  bought from Artful crafting. I randomly stamped my backgrounds with different background stamps. Tried heat embossing (the messy one :P) in the background too; both clear and black embossing.
I used two chipboard pieces in my project. A chipboard frame and chipboard word "dream". I heat embossed the frame, and colored my word "Dream" with Gold foil spray. And then applied Glossy accents to that.
The flourish die you are seeing is my all time favorite. And I use this die in almost everything I create. Thanks to Shereen apa for making these things available for us. Seriously, She's a crafter fairy for all us crafters.
That's it for now. Hope you would like what I have created so far. Please leave your comment, and let me know how you like it. And dont forget to subscribeeeeee!!! :D :D :D

Have a great day.

Experimenting today!!

Heyyyy people!!

I'm here to share a card with you. I played along with Unity's Friends with Flair, and create a card using Unity's itty bitty stamp.

I heat embossed script background stamp on my background panel, and then spritz lots of water on the paper, I then used my good ol' watercolor kit and threw three colors on there; Black, beige and blue. Because of water, my colors react with each other and overlapped at several points. After heat-setting the background, I punched an oval from above and adhered a piece of patterned paper from back. Oh and before adhering the paper, i spread some gesso through tim holtz dot fade stencil using a spatula. I love love love doing this. Before adding this panel to my second layer, I ran a piece of jute string twice and made a pretty bow out of it.
After that, I stamped my itty bitty stamp on a piece of canvas, frayed the edges using my nails and adhered the stamped piece of canvas on a book paper that was pre-distressed using vintage photo distress ink.
Thats it for now.
I hope you guys will like it. Please let me know, Ok! :)
Have a nice day, ya'll.

{be inspired}

Hello everyone!!
I'm here today to share a card with you all. The inspiration goes to Unity stamps, offcourse. Every time I purchase a new itty bitty, i just want to play with it over and over again.
I have NEVER participated in Unity's {be inspired} Challenge, so i thought to give it a try this time. They had a very fun challenge like always. You either chose a sketch OR inspiration photo, OR combine them both and create a card or a layout. I chose to create a card, LO is too big for me to handle. hehe.
This is the inspiration photo.
and this is what I have created using the sketch.
I used pink paislee papers (dont remember the collection. sorry!) for the chevrons, I used Echo park's bundle of joy boy paper line. I still have another 12x12 sheet left, thank goodness. Anyhoo, I distressed the edges of the centre panel in the background, using my tim holtz distresser. And then I layered few die cuts on top of each other to give my card some interest.

The sentiment is an itty bitty. And i stamped it using versa mark on a circle, that is hand-cut. Heat embossed it using black embossing powder by Rangers. And then colored it using faded jeans and black soot distressed inks by Rangers again. Love love tim holtz products.
And then i punched few small flowers using my retro flower punch, gave them a lil shape and adhere them on the bottom of my distressed circular piece.
tied a bow on top of the paper before adhering it to the main card, and ta-da! My card is done.
Let me know what do you think about it. I am realy pleased with the end results, so glad I did not make any mistake this time. lol.
Leave your comments, and I'll pay you a visit back.
Have a great day. Much Love.
Deeja.
